Members and friends of the Wasco County Pioneer Association traditionally meet the first Saturday of May each year, 9:30 a.m., in The Dalles for the Annual Reunion and Meeting. This year the 95th Annual meeting is Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Fort Dalles Readiness Center, 402 E. Scenic Drive, The Dalles, Oregon. (Located near the campus of Columbia Gorge Community College, east of Sorosis Park. For a map, click here.)
Doors open at 9:30 a.m., lunch is served at 11:30 a.m., and the meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome
The luncheon is $15.00 per person.
Several graduation classes from The Dalles traditionally hold a mini reunion on this day. Wasco Couny Pioneer Day is always an excellent time for everyone to get together and renew old friendships.
Dues are $12.50 per person or $15 for families (spouse and children 18 years and under). Membership is open to everyone!
We look forward to seeing and visiting with you this year on the first Saturday of May in 2017! If you have questions please contact Vicki Ann Sallee, Membership Chairman, at 541-296-4043 or email email@example.com.
Wasco County Pioneers Association has collected one of the greatest treasure troves of photographic history archives in the State of Oregon. MaryAnn Campbell, director of research services for the Oregon Historical Society, has stated it is the best photo collection of any community in Oregon.
There are 394 picture boards with 9,110 photos on them. The picture boards are now stored at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Wasco County History Museum, who have scanned and electronically archived these many “one-of-a-kind” photographs of the history of Wasco county. This wonderful collection of historic photos is now available to view at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center Photo Archives.
For a small fee, anyone who would like to order a high-resolution (600 ppi) copy of one of the historic WCPA photos can do so by calling the Collections Department at Columbia Gorge Discovery Center at 541-296-8600, ext. 242. Or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional research material may be found at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center’s William G. Dick Research Library.
